Safety & how it works

Safety you can't switch off, because it isn't a switch.

Most kids' apps bolt safety on with filters and moderation after the fact. BuildKins removes the risky parts from the foundation, so they can't come back with an update or a settings change.

Three layers, not one filter
01

No wire to send a message on

The network can carry a move, an emote, or a preset phrase — and nothing else. There is no “text message” type. A message with typed text is rejected before it's read by anyone.

02

Chat features are wired to nothing

Games built for other platforms can ask for a chat box. On BuildKins those requests connect to a dead end — the game runs fine, but no chat window can appear.

03

Nowhere to type at all

There's no text-input box anywhere in a game — so nobody can build a homemade chat out of spare parts. Scoreboards and labels still show text; kids just can't enter any.

Names we hand out, not names they invent

Every player gets a friendly handle assembled from a curated word list — BraveBlueFox, HappyGreenOtter. Kids never type their own name.

A free-text display name is one of the easiest places to hide a message or a real identity. So we didn't build one. It's the same idea as the chat: remove the surface, remove the risk.

Phrases in every kid's own language

A player in Mexico picks “¡Buen partido!” and a friend in Ohio sees “Good game!” The game only ever sends which phrase was chosen — never any words a child typed.

Every phrase any player can ever see is written by our team. That means the full list of “things a stranger could say to your child” is fixed, short, and reviewed.

Friends

Add friends. Just not a way to message them.

Kids can add each other as friends so they can see who's online and jump into the same game together. That's the whole point of a friends list here — finding your people and playing.

Being friends unlocks exactly zero new ways to communicate. Friends talk the same way everyone does: emotes and preset phrases we wrote. There's no private channel that opens up once two kids connect — because there's no private channel anywhere.

What we don't collect

The safest data is the data we never gather. We deliberately don't measure the things other platforms use to keep kids playing.

No playtime analytics

We don't track how long your child plays to optimize for it. We only keep what's needed to run the game and handle billing.

No ad profiles

There are no ads, so there's no reason to build a profile of your child's behavior — and we don't.

No social graph

We don't build a map of who your child knows or plays with to recommend “people you may know.”
